About
This blog site is intended as a tool for those seeking interest all of the aspects of the photography business. I’m a young photojournalist who has set out to make my own way in the world by opening a photography studio and shooting freelance photography.
Photography isn’t only my life, it’s my passion. Whether I’m catching a moment between a bride and groom or I’m shooting Friday night’s football game at the local high school, I love what I’m doing.
Hopefully this site will act as a tool for discussion and learning. And maybe, just maybe I’ll inspire someone as much as others have inspired me.
So let me fill you in on the boring details.
Background
I’m originally from Alpha, Ill., located in the west central Illinois. My grandfather has been a portrait photographer for nearly 40 years.
I’ve worked as a photojournalist professionally for over a year, but have been shooting for several more. I graduated from Eastern Illinois University in the Spring of 2006 with a journalism degree.
After that, I moved to Rochelle with my fiancee at the time, Stephanie Howard. I worked as a camera salesman before accepting a position at the Tuscola Review newspaper in April 2007 as a writer and photographer.
In August 2007, I was promoted to managing editor. In July 2008, Stephanie and I decided to open our photography business back in her hometown of Rochelle.
The rest is still history in the making, and can be read about in our blog.
Our mission
We believe in the unpredictability of life. Spontaneous moments are what everyone lives for. That’s why we try to catch the true personality of people through those spontaneous moments and capture the essence of our subjects. We stray from the traditional poses as much as possible. Our goal is to tell stories through photos.
Where
We our located in Rochelle, Ill., but we travel anywhere and everywhere for our customers. We hope our customers truly want us at their events, not just because we’re convenient or offer affordable photography, but because they wouldn’t trust anyone else with their precious moments.
Why
A lot of people might ask why give up a cushy newspaper job to shoot weddings, portraits and freelance. First off, newspaper jobs aren’t that cushy. Secondly, this gives me the freedom to interact with people in a closer manner. It has all the parts of my job I love without many of those I don’t love so much.
I’m sure there’s much more to tell you, but for the sake of those who don’t care, I’ll end for now. If there’s something you would like to know, just ask and I’ll be sure to fill you in.
I am interested in your classes. How much it is the class?
