A few days ago I promised a few more from Abe and Tiffany’s wedding last weekend. So here are three more. I’d have liked to add a few more, but I got kind of bogged down with other stuff late in the week and still need a few more days to finish up editing. So hang in there guys…I promise early next week.
I would like to take a second and explain why I love this shot immediately below so much. To an average person, this just looks like a normal photo. To me, and more importantly, hopefully to my clients, this is a real situation and a real memory. It’s not something posed. It’s not something you can replicate. It’s merely an instant of their special day where they looked into each other’s eyes and realized how lucky they were to be with each other.
It’s why I do what I do. Photos like these make it worth it to me. Sure the hours on wedding days are really long, but knowing you can capture a memory and tell a story so perfectly keeps me coming back for more.

Here’s the ad we’ll be running on WRHL beginning Friday. Thanks to Greg at the station for helping me put it together. It’s been a really long time since I had to write any radio ads, so I took a shot at it. Greg, reworked it to sound MUCH better and this was the final outcome. Thanks again and hope to see some of you at the Grand Opening on June 4.

I took my first crack at modeling photos the other day. As you can see, it wasn’t Marissa Miller or any other top fashion models, but they certainly little heart-throbs in their own way.
Carly and Alexis are two five-year-olds from town who are looking to break into the child-modeling industry. I think the shoot went absolutely amazing. Here are just a few sneak peek photos from the session the other night. I can’t show too many of them because the girls and their parents won’t get to see them until tomorrow. I might throw a few more on here and our site after that though.
I’ve also got a few more from Abe & Tiffany’s wedding coming later today or tomorrow. Check back soon.

Steph and I got a chance to shoot the Rodriguez wedding at Maxon’s Manor in Oregon, the other night. It was a little special for us because that was where Stephanie and I also held our reception, so it definitely brought back memories. It also helped me out a lot because I knew several spots to go for photos and knew exactly how light worked in the reception hall.
Out of every wedding I’ve been to, this one reminded me of ours in so many ways. Lots of good people, good friends and great times. Just a great party atmosphere to be in. Here’s some of my immediate favs. More to come.

I’ll have more about this project later, but here are a few photos from today.

After our first wedding last weekend I ran into a terrific problem. I know, sounds a bit weird, but hang with me. Steph and I had to start shooting last weekend at 9:30 a.m. The wedding was about 20 – 25 miles away and so was the prep area. So Steph and I packed everything up the night before, got it all in the car and were there on time Saturday.

I felt bad on the way over because the stuff early in the day is really where I excel. The problem being, Steph basically gets to stand around until it’s time for formal photos. BORING! Well, now that I bought a third camera, I thought, she said why not just let her shoot around too. I was a bit skeptical. After all, NOT JUST ANYONE can be a photographer.

Well I forgot, my wife is not JUST ANYONE. Turns out she’s not too bad. So guess what folks, you’re getting double the duty on your weddings now. She really dove in and handled herself pretty well. Hopefully I can teach her some cool stuff along the way and who knows….maybe she’ll be better than me. Eventually
So where does the problem lie, you ask? Now I have to buy her some nicer equipment. Down the road at least.
All joking aside, I’m really glad she’s taking a large interest in it. It’s really going to help the business grow. I also told her from now on it’s like fishing. You catch it, you gotta clean it. (i.e. You shoot it, you gotta edit it.) That didn’t work out as well as I thought as I ended up editing most.
We also got a chance to use the photo booth for the first time. It went over really well and we hope it continues to be a great success in the future. We’ve got a quick modeling session this evening and then another wedding tomorrow. Then we’re going to take a day or two off for Memorial Day, but back in action Tuesday with an engagement session.
Stephanie and I shot our first wedding of the year the other night. We are so greatful for Chad and Melissa Greenlee to have allowed us to share their special day with them. Right now, I’m about half through the first rough edit of photos. The guest photos are already up online with the password: greenleeguest. Enter the password here.
Here are a few of my favorites that I’ve edited so far.

I got the chance to shoot a few sports portraits last night for a senior I had done portraits for before. Jen is an all-star track athlete at Rochelle Township High School and will soon make her rise to the collegiate level with a full ride scholarship at ISU.
I’ve been in a bit of a funk, mentally speaking lately. I’ve just felt like the same old tricks weren’t hacking it anymore, so I decided to go slightly different with this shoot. I really like this shot and liked it even more after I added the high pass effect I like so much.
My fellow journalists may not care for it, but I really like the look. Like anything, this style/fad will fade, but why not utilize it for awhile. I have a few more I may end up sharing, but this was my favorite.
I have to admit that I have a sort of new found freedom with Photoshop. Before, I was never able to clone, fix or remove things in photos to make them better. Portraits are completely different and I love it. Now I just need to learn some new tricks. Hopefully I’ll be getting a few DVDs to help me along. Thanks for looking.
